Confederation of African Football (CAF) Stadium Inspector, Ivan Lengwe Mumba from Zambia who arrived in the country yesterday today inspected facilities at the Bingu National Stadium ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifers which begins in June.

This morning Mumba inspected the Bingu National Stadium which FAM has chosen as the home venue for the Malawi national team (Flames).

The CAF inspector concentrated on the field and other facilities like dressing rooms, media and medical facilities among others.

He also inspected Nankhaka and Silver Stadia which are designated as training venues.

Later in the evening he was expected to go back to BNS to check the condition of floodlights.

FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda expressed hope saying the inspection looks promising and chances of BNS passing the CAF test are high as FAM and Government have worked on the shortfalls.

Mumba is expected to submit his report to CAF tonight and the Continental Football governing body will make its final decision over the weekend

Lat year BNS and Kamuzu stadia failed to host international matches in the recent World Cup qualiiers having fallen short to meet the standard requirements set by the inspectorate group of the Confederation of African Football and the Federation of International Footall Association.
