NRFA Drafts 34 Teams Into Nyasa Capital Finance Cup

A total of 34 teams will take part in this year’s Nyasa Capital Finance Cup in the northern region.

Both Premier and division one teams have been grouped into clusters where they will compete for a place into the round of 16.

However two teams namely Chintheche and Lufita will not take part in this year’s tournament having failed to get registered on time to take part.

Meanwhile in Unayo Division One Cup, district teams have been grouped into two Clusters comprising of teams from Likoma, Nkhata-Bay, Mzimba district and Mzuzu City playing in Cluster-A while teams from Ekwendeni, Rumphi, Karonga and Chitipa will battle it out in Cluster-B.

Commenting after the draws, Northern Region Football Association (NRAFA) General Secretary, Masiya Nyasulu said officiation has been given special consideration this year to ensure quality football standards.

“We have put much attention on officiation because we don’t complaints about incompetence or biased refereeing in this years competitions,” Nyasulu said.

Chairperson for Jenda United, Gift Smart described the draw as fair considering that most teams will be meeting each other for the first time.

“In all fairs the draw has been very good considering that almost all teams are meeting for the first time, the competition is likely to be very stiff in all clusters,” said Smart.

In the Southern Region this year’s Nyasa Capital Finance Cup launch will take place on Sunday at Balaka Stadium with Balaka FC taking on Zingwangwa United in the first match while Zomba Airbase will meet Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve in the second match.
