Malawi Mining Investment Forum Showcases Government’s Commitment to Sector Transformation

The Minister of Mining, Kenneth Zikhale Ngo’ma, has emphasized that the Malawi Mining Investment Forum demonstrates the government’s dedication to transforming the mining sector.
The two-day conference, held in Lilongwe, brought together industry players, government representatives, and stakeholders to explore new opportunities and innovations in the sector.

The forum, themed “Advancing Malawi’s Agenda in an Evolving Global Industry,” attracted foreign and local investors, international and local organizations, and academia.
In an interview, Zikhale said the forum centred on discussions focused on inclusivity, particularly regarding women and youth participation in the mining sector.
“The Malawi Mining Investment Forum showcases the government’s commitment to transforming the mining sector, with a focus on inclusivity, innovation, and growth,” he said.

Mwai Sandram, Fighting Inequality Coordinator, participated in a panel discussion, highlighting the importance of gender mainstreaming and improving working conditions for women in the mines.
“The conversation was very interesting because the forum also recognized the efforts of NCA-DCA in advocating for youth participation in mining,” said Samdram.
The Norwegian Embassy hailed the Minister’s message of support for artisan miners highlights, public sector commitment to driving inclusive growth in the sector.
Among the foreign dignitaries, the Norwegian Embassy participated in the 2025 Malawi Mining Investment Forum organized by the Ministry of Mining Malawi, under the theme Advancing Malawi’s Agenda in an Evolving Global Industry.
