Malawi Airlines Brings Boeing 737-800
Following unprecedented growing demand for air services more especially between Malawi and South African the Malawi Airlines has with immediate effect replaced their aircraft, Boeing 737-700 with a slightly larger one, the Boeing 373-800.
The development has been necessitated by the ever-growing outcries from the travellers failing to secure seats on the airline’s flights owing to high demand, resulting in many travelling to either Addis Ababa in Ethiopia or Nairobi in Kenya, to get to or from South Africa.
Writing on his official Facebook. Page the minister of Transport and Public Works, Jacob Hara said another reason for an increase in demand is because of Malawi Airlines being the sole operator on the Lilongwe/Blantyre Johannesburg route.
“There are hopes that the bigger aircraft will alleviate the problem of space and they will therefore be able to serve their customers better,” reads in part the ministers post.
The Boeing 737-800 series is a newer model and has space for 158 passengers unlike the Boeing 737-700 aircraft which has the capacity of 118 seats.
The minister further revealed that there are huge prospects that South African Airways will resume operations to Malawi within this month (December) a development which will ease travel even further for the public.
