Malawi’s upcoming furniture manufacturing company, BM Sofa Designs and General Dealers have saved another girl child Sarah Bakali, a form one student of Stella Maris Secondary School in Blantyre whom the school refused her enrollment for the second term for failure to pay school fees.
The 14 year old Sarah, has returned to school and is now attending lessons after some well wishers contributed money meant for her whole form one school fees.
The story of Sarah Bakali, first appeared on Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) appealing for help for her to continue with studies after the school management rejected her enrollment for the second term due to a K207 000.00 fees balance having paid only K9 000. 00 last term.
MBC reporter spotted Bakali on Tuesday morning in tears moving along the Zingwangwa Kudya Road, before she narrated her story.
She said she has no father and none of her relations in Phalombe is capable to square her outstanding school fees.
Breaking the good news to Malawi Daily Telegraph on Friday, BM Sofa Designs Managing Director, Dr Peter Kasewe said Sarah’s school fees starting from form two will be met by the furniture manufacturing company.
Kasewe says this is one way of giving back to its customers who have all along supported the company from the first day since its establishment.
“BM Sofa Designs’ management thought of assisting the little girl attain education, we have decided to meet her school fees starting from form two up to form four,” Kasewe said.
In a related development, a fortnight ago BM sofa Designs and General dealers vowed to be paying fees worthy K232,000 for another girl child, Tione Chilembo who was selected from Mzokoto Primary school to study at St. Mary’s Karonga Secondary school who was also on the verge of dropping out from school due to lack of financial support.
