NCHE Migrates To Full Electronic Applications for Public Universities
National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) Director of Planning, Research and Development, Dr. Mangani Katundu has said they will fully migrate to electronic applications for Public Universities this year, to better support candidates in their programme choices and ensure efficient processing.
Dr. Mangani made these remarks today during a Government Citizen Engagement (Pabwalo) on University Selection Processes held at Kaundama CDSS in Lilongwe, organised by Ministry of Local Government-Malawi under the Department of Civic Education.
He said the process will require students to register online, input their grades and the system will be able to recommend appropriate programmes for them based on their performance so that they do not end up being redirected. After submitting the application, a confirmation message will be sent to your phone number, an invoice generated and payments can be made through mobile money or online bank transactions.
Mangani also said the institution will be rolling out an awareness campaign on the new application process and capacitating teachers, colleges and all centres, to sensitise the general public on the application process and programmes.
Principal Secretary for Unity under Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Dr. Elizabeth Gomani Chindebvu said Kaundama CDSS is one of the targeted schools for awareness sessions on University Admissions because it is hard for people in the area to access information.
“It’s important to guide and inspire students especially in rural areas to pursue higher education so that they can actively participate in creating a wealthy and self-reliant nation in line with Malawi2063 vision,” She said.
