Mark Dodoma Taking Solar Power To Every Corner
While most Malawians are still struggling to access reliable sources of power to be used in their workplaces and homes one of the local power installation firms, Mark Electrical and Solar Installations Services has taken a central role in providing reliable solar power gadgets subsidizing the costly traditional hydro and other power sources.
Mark Electrical and Solar Installation’s ray of hope comes at a time when 200 000 poor Malawians in rural areas have been frustrated with waiting to access electricity through the newly launched Ngwe ngwe ngwe program >being dacilitated through the Malawi Electricity Access Project (MEAP) funded by World bank.
Speaking to Malawi Daily Telegraph the Managing Director of the firm, Mark Dodoma said the advantages of using solar energy and hydro power bucking up systems are enormous giving an assurance of unnecessary intermittent power outages and also there are no bills once installed hence serving money.
Dodoma further stated that once solar energy is installed it provides for low expenditure on water and electricity bills in both in urban and even hard to reach rural settings.
“We cannot be boasting of achieving the Malawi Vision 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with erratic power supply hence we have the alternative to the traditional hydro and other power sources with solar energy which is installed only once
Despite meagre resources to meet the cost of service provision, in the spirit of patriotism Dodoma and his firm employees are still going around the country’s schools, lodges, banks, markets and industries to ensure they consider migrating to the use of green energy that is affordable to all Malawians regardless of financial status.
The Ministry of Energy through the partnership with IRENA announce the introduction of solar energy grants for eligible Individuals, businesses and organizations which many players in the energy sector says they are still struggling to access.
This program aims at promoting the use of solar energy as a sustainable and environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional energy sources and diversify to the energy sector in order to ensure sufficient capacity of power generated for the country’s economic growth.
In an effort to qualify the Solar Energy grant Mark Dodoma who originally comes from Balaka but stays in Ntcheu having completed his Electrical Installation and Electronics and also Solar Photovoltaic installation course in 2018 under TEVETA has his company dully registered by government.
Through the Ngwe ngwe ngwe program which is aimed at providing financing to solar companies to install over 200, 000 solar home systems in rural off grid households across the country through end user -subsidies from April this year
