Chakwera Hosted Visiting Mnangagwa To A Bunquet

President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Wednesday evening hosted a State Banquet in honor of His Excellency Comrade Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

In his remarks, President Chakwera said his Excellency Mnangagwa’s State visit is a celebration of the cordial and strong bonds of cooperation and friendship that exists between the two sister countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations way back in 1980.

The Malawi leader said he and his counterpart are determined to forge ahead with cooperations of the two nations even in challenging times such as the sanctions imposed on the Republic of Zimbabwe.

In his response Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe and Malawi enjoy excellent and mutually beneficial relations since Zimbabwe attained independence in 1980.

Mnangagwa who is on a three day state visit has since conveyed deepest sympathies to Government and people of Malawi for the devastation caused by Cyclone Freddy in March this year (2023).

The Banquet attracted notable figures, such as the Vice president of Malawi, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, Cabinet Ministers, government officials, members of Tonse Alliance , religious and traditional leaders among others.
