The Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) for doing well in managing the Refugees relocation exercise.

Zikhale’s recognition comes after the UNHCR gave a nod to the exercise, stating that the Malawi government is indeed only following the law.

However, the UNHCR’s Director of the Regional Bureau for Southern Africa Valentin Tapsoba has pleaded with Malawi government to work out some challenges that the Refugees are facing at Dzaleka Camp, such as water and space.

“We are happy that government is relocating the camp to the northern region where they will have enough space,” Tapsoba said.

Ng’oma has since expressed excitement with the recognition, saying he gives the credit to his officers who are still working day and night to make sure the exercise is successful.

Earlier, the Rwandan government also awarded Ng’oma with an award of excellence for sending the Rwandan notorious warlord Théoneste Niyongira allia Kanyoni, to his country where he will stand war crimes trials.
