Zikomo Awards Recognises Exceptional Self-Reliant Economic Drivers
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr Lazarus Chakwera, on Friday night presided over the prestigious Zikomo Awards.
The event aims to recognize and reward twenty outstanding outfits that have demonstrated exceptional self-reliance in various sectors of the country’s economy.
Running under the theme “Celebrating self-reliance,” this year, these awards serve as a platform to acknowledge and encourage individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions towards Malawi’s development and progress.
The Zikomo Awards, which translates to “Thank You” in the local Chichewa language, have become an annual tradition in Malawi since their inception in 2020.
The primary objective of the Zikomo Awards is to promote and celebrate self-reliance as a key driver of economic growth and sustainable development in Malawi.
This year’s awards will cover a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, technology, and environmental conservation.
