Book Reading, Public Lecture Motivates Youthful Entrepreneur

After attending to some public lectures and reading motivational leadership books a 29 year old Mzuzu based George Phiri has ventured into horticultural agribusiness as a way of earning a living.

Phiri has ventured into cabbage, maize and tomato farming at a time when most school graduates in the country are just loitering around urban centres hunting for white collar jobs.

Speaking to Malawi Daily Telegraph on Thursday on the whilst working in his cabbage field Phiri said he has planted 11 000 but targeting 15 000 heads of cabbage and 250 tomato plants which are projected to fetch about K15 million.

The youthful agribusiness farmer who has employed six (6) labourers to his credit hailed the chattered Engineer, Vitumbiko Mumba for his motivational lecture he recently gave at Mzuzu University a couple of months ago.

“Through that motivational talk conducted by Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba at Mzuni a few months ago I have developed confidence in myself to expand my business and that is the leadership path I have embarked on,” Phiri said.

He also made mention that one of the books “Drive to Advance” written by one of Malawi’s seasoned book writers based in United Kingdom, Allan Mandindi has also sharpened and broadened his reasoning horizon hence progressing towards the right path to greatness.

However, Phiri who is also planning to venture into piggery on his farmyard has appealed to well wishers to assist him with a soft loan for the procurement of solar powered water pump if his business is to expand further and employ additional workers.
