Court Orders MDF To Furnish ACB With Chilima’s Case Documents
High Court Judge Redson Kapindu has today ordered Malawi Defence Force ( MDF) to appear before the High Court in Lilongwe through Attorney General (AG) to explain specific reasons for refusing to furnish ACB with documents relating to Vice-President Saulos Chilima’s corruption case.
In his ruling a short while ago, Kapindu has given the defence two days to file Notice of hearing which should be served on the AG Thabo Chakaka- Nyirenda and the MDF.
The court is expected to fix a date on when the AG should come to court .
The MDF refused to give the letters to the bureau arguing the documents are highly classified and a threat to national security.
ACB lawyer Chrispin Khunga has told the court today that ACB served the defence and the court the MDF response.
Defence lawyer Bright Theu however, accused the bureau of failing to fully use its powers under Section 11 of Corrupt Practices Act( CPA) in forcing the MDF to provide the documents .
Meanwhile, the court has adjourned to 2:30 pm to deal with preliminary objections on charges levelled against Chilima.
