600 Elderlies Feast With Zikhale On New Year’s Day
More than 600 senior citizens from 19 centres constituting Nkhatabay South Constituency were treated to a luncheon by the Homeland Security Minister, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma on New Year’s Day.
Drawn from Chifira, Kapeska, Matete, Malengamzoma, Zilakoma, Ndundu, Mazembe, Kalowa, Kuwirwi, Liuzi, and Kachere political and trade zones the elderlies did not only get food for the afternoon but also received hampers containing rice, soap, sugar, cooking oil and cash.
Addressing the New Years rally at Chifira Village, Ng’oma said he is only following President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera’s footsteps in making sure that the elderly are well taken care of and respected all the times.
“I am thankful to President Lazarus Chakwera who has taught us to care and look after the elderly in our areas, and I am thankful to him for sending one of his Advisors to be with us here today”
On her part, one of the beneficiaries, Eluby Kamanga was short of words to express her level of joy for the gesture demonstrated by Zikhale, saying as one of the elderlies she felt honoured.
Despite his usual busy schedule as minister and parliamentarian, the New Years Day was dedicated to cheering the elderly from 19 Villages accompanied by president Chakwera’s Deputy Advisor on Political Affairs, Fredrick Mkalangiza
The following day, in his capacity as Nkhata-Bay South Parliamentarian Zikhale Ng’oma met chiefs from his constituency to discuss a number of prioritized Constituency Development projects.
