SOUTHERN CHIEFS MEETS CHAKWERA AT SANJIKA PALACE

President Lazarus Chakwera has advocated for self-reliance if the country is to develop socially and economically.

The appeal follows the Head of State meeting with chiefs from the whole southern region at Sanjika Palace.

Among several issues discussed key topics including development projects, the Affordable Input Programme, and a 100% honoraria increase.

In his speech, Chakwera underscored the role of chiefs in fostering a diligent work ethic and unity, rejecting regional neglect based on political affiliations.

“Your visit to Sanjika signifies the importance of your role in shaping the development agenda government is implementing, you, our chiefs cannot be left behind,” Chakwera said.

In his Address the Minister of local government, Richard Chimwendo Banda emphasized grassroots importance, citing chiefs as crucial partners in development.

“Chiefs are the custodians of our culture which always preaches coexistence, peace love and unity, very crucial in all spheres of development,” Chimwendo said.

In her remarks, Senior Chief Chikumbu commends the president’s engagement, pledging collaboration for the benefit of their subjects.
