Chitipa Wenya Parliamentarian Aligns With Nankhumwa
The Democratic Progressive Party member of parliament for Chitipa Wenya, Welani Chilenga has become the new Legislator to denounce his Party leadership.
Speaking in an interview from the parliament buildings with our reporter on Monday, Chilenga had no even a single kind word for the newly elected DPP leadership in the House of Assembly, calling it all sorts of names.
During the day’s deliberations, the Chitipa Wenya Parliamentarian laid it bare about his stand on the on going confusion in the DPP by informing the assembly that people in his area have agreed to concentrate on issues that will develop their area.
“Madam Speaker, I and people of my area have chosen to stop opposing development programmes government is initiating in our area, we in the DPP agreed just to oppose anything,” Chilenga told Parliament.
Asked what he meant by lambasting his own party in Parliament more particularly the newly elected DPP leadership in Parliament, Chilenga echoed saying he don’t associate with very old, greedy politicians.
‘Those meeting and causing anarchy in Parliament are from the Madala Team (old timers) and I am not part of that grouping because I belong to Kondwani Nankhumwa camp, but I remain a Democratic Progressive Party member,” he added.
Chilenga’s sentiments echoed what the DPP’s Regional Governor for the North, Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira recently told his party loyalists in Mzuzu City that an opposition party they deliberately frustrate whatever the party in government is initiating.
“Our aim is to form government come 2025, so no matter what as a party in opposition we don’t support not even a single grain of truth being championed by our friends the other side,” recorded saying Ngwira.
Recently, the division among DPP members of parliament has led to the increase in number of Legislators now sitting on the independent benches in the arrangement of Parliamentarians in the August House.
