However, Chakwera remains confident in his ability to lead the country and believes that his track record speaks for itself.

“If the Malawi Congress Party’s national executive committee endorses me and the convention gives me a go ahead to represent the party in next year’s presidential election I will not hesitate to say that i will stand,” said Chakwera inviting a very loud applause from party supporters.

He further said as the leader has faced a number of challenges during his time in office but despite all obstacles he remains committed to improving the lives of the Malawian people and believes that his experience and vision for the country will lead to a brighter future.

Overall, Chakwera’s decision to run for re-election represents a significant moment in Malawi’s political landscape, as he seeks to continue his work in office and secure another term as the country’s president. With the support of his party and the people of Malawi, Chakwera is confident that he can lead the country to greater prosperity and success in the years to come.

The UTM Spokesperson, Felix Njawala refused to comment on Chakwera’s remarks in relation to the electoral agreement he signed with Chilima saying that is podium politics.

“The UTM cannot comment on the other party’s podium politics, we have our own platform and we don’t know the context from which Chakwera was referring to,” said Njawala.

The Malawi leader then called on citizen to work together to create a society where all members are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their age or social status.

“Let me stress the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of all individuals, especially the vulnerable elderly population hence urging all civil society organizations to advocate for justice and stand up against mob justice,” he added.

The Malawi leader also emphasized the need for a fair and impartial legal system to address any grievances.
