Dowa District Council Emerges Top GESD Project’s Performer
Dowa district is the country’s best performing Council in the Performance-Based Grants of the World Bank-funded GESD Project in the 2023-2024 financial year.
According to the Daily Times, the district has received over K774 million for the implementation of different projects aimed at improving livelihoods in the district.
According to the announcement, other districts that have performed well includes Mchinji and Kasungu, which have secured second place.
However, for the first time, all the country’s 28 districts have qualified for the grants worth K16 billion.
In a related development, NBS Bank has donated K2.5 million for the cleaning of the Dowa district central market area.
