Malawi Mourns the Loss of Vice President and Others in Plane Crash

In a sorrowful turn of events, Malawi’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima, along with nine others, perished in a plane crash. The military aircraft they were aboard crashed while en route to a funeral. President Lazarus Chakwera has declared a 21-day national mourning period to honor their memories.

The plane, carrying the Vice President among others, was advised against landing at Mzuzu airport due to poor visibility and was directed to return to Lilongwe. Unfortunately, it disappeared from radar and was later confirmed to have crashed in the Chikangawa mountain range.

The nation grieves this immense loss, and efforts are underway to provide support during this difficult time. President Chakwera has assured that no resource will be spared in dealing with the aftermath of this tragedy.
