TIWACT Revolutionizes Primary School English Education In Mzuzu City
Mzuzu City becomes a beacon of hope shinning brightly for over 450 students in standards 5, 6, and 7 at Chiputula Primary School. Thanks to the altruistic efforts of Together We Act (TIWACT), a non-profit organization founded by the visionary sociology student, Yokogawa Rena from National Taiwan University, these young learners are experiencing a transformative journey in mastering the English language.
Established in the early months of 2023 and still in its registration phase, TIWACT has swiftly carved a niche for itself as a catalyst for change in the community. Through the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers, the organization is on a mission to foster community engagement and empower students through free English lessons.
The heart of this initiative lies in the belief that education is the key to unlocking a brighter future for the youth of Mzuzu. By offering structured English lessons to students in key grades, TIWACT is not only enhancing their language skills but also opening doors to a world of opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings.

“Our passion for education and community development has inspired a team of like-minded individuals to join hands in this noble cause, creating a ripple effect of positive change in Mzuzu,” said Rena in a conversation from her home, Taiwan.
As the students eagerly participate in the engaging lessons provided by TIWACT, the impact of the organization is palpable. Confidence soars, communication skills blossom, and a newfound enthusiasm for learning takes root in the hearts and minds of the young learners.
TIWACT leader in Malawi, Janet Shalom Mhango highlighted stating that through innovative teaching methods, interactive sessions, and personalized attention, TIWACT is not just amplifying English lessons but also nurturing a love for learning among the students.
“The ripple of change initiated by this dedicated group is poised to create a wave of transformation in the educational landscape a world where access to quality education is often a privilege, TIWACT stands as a shining example of how grassroots initiatives can bridge the gap and empower the next generation,” said Mhango.
