Chimwendo Calls For MCP New Era of Transparency and Accountability
The Director of Youth in the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Richard Chimwendo Banda is on a mission in relation to the elective convention just around the corner having decided to throw his hat into the ring for the position of party Secretary General.
Unlike many of his competitors, Chimwendo is taking a different approach to his campaign which is primarily issue based.
Known for his passion for grassroots issues and commitment to transparency and integrity, Chimwendo popularly known as the ‘Bulldozer’ embarked on an issue-based campaign focusing on real policies and plans to bring positive change to the party and the country, rather than resorting to the traditional tactic of distributing money to delegates in exchange for their votes.
In a bold move, Chimwendo warned delegates against falling for the allure of quick cash during campaign season emphasizing that despite bribes from other candidates would not be seen any closer again once the votes are cast, urging them to look beyond temporary financial gains and instead consider the long-term vision and integrity of the party.
Chimwendo’s message resonated with many members of the MCP, especially the younger generation who said were tired of the cycle of corruption and short-sighted politics.
“Chimwendo is a breath of fresh air, a candidate who is truly dedicated to serving the party and the people, rather than just those seeking power for personal gains,” said a delegate from Rumphi district.
As the campaign heated up and tension rising , Chimwendo seems remaining steadfast in his commitment to integrity and honesty.
In a brief interaction with members of the media his sentiments were filled with passion and conviction, gaining a reputation as an only ideal candidate who can be trusted to lead with integrity and principles as new party Secretary General.
“It is all about rebuilding the party, on the day of the convention, delegates will gather to cast their votes for the new National Executive Committee with a sense of anticipation, i Richard Chimwendo Banda expecting to be elected as the new Secretary General of the MCP,” said Chimwendo
Chimwendo further stated that honesty and integrity can prevail in the face of corrupt practices as he takes on the new role, vowed to continue his mission of bringing real change to the party and the country, one issue at a time.
And with his unwavering dedication and commitment to doing what is right, he concluded saying that he is ready to assist president Lazarus Chakwera leading the MCP and the entire nation into a new era of transparency and accountability.
