EASTERN REGION OVERWHELMINGLY ENDORSES ZIKHALE

Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) delegates from the Eastern Region have overwhelmingly endorsed Dr Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma as the flag bearer for the post of First Vice President in the party.

The delegates gathered to send across their message that in as far as the region is concerned, they will look at no any other person but Ken Zikhale Ng’oma only.

The flamboyant politician who is also the ruling party’s chief strategist is seeking votes as the First Vice President of the party.

The party’s convention is scheduled for the 8th of August, 2024 in Lilongwe and the name of Ken Zikhale Ng’oma is on the mouth of almost every delegate.

Speaking in an interview, Edward Thama, Treasurer for the Eastern Region responsible for Youth said that as a region, they are strongly behind Ken Zikhale Ng’oma because of the good works that he has demonstrated in the party.

Thama said that as a region, they have agreed that once they go to the convention, delegates will not look at other person than Zikhale Ng’oma.

Thama further said that Zikhale Ng’oma’s behaviour has been a unifier in the party and everyone agrees to this.

Speaking to this reporter in another interview from the Eastern Region district of Balaka, MCP Chairlady for the district Prisca Chirombo said that they have as a region agreed to vote for Ken Zikhale Ng’oma after seeing his good performance as Member of Parliament for MCP as well as a cabinet minister.

Chirombo said that in all the responsibilities that the party and the President has given to Zikhale Ng’oma, he has always delivered better results.

“I personally know him because of his good results that he delivers as MP and Minister,” she said.

The Balaka District Chairlady further vowed for Zikhale because she said is no stranger to good works.

“He has performed as MP and Minister so he will definitely deliver as our First Vice President,” said.

Chirombo further applauded Zikhale for his kindness and that he cannot be compared to any of the candidates he is competing with because they have nothing to show.

Earlier, there was drama after some delegates were told to attend events by another competitor for the south Brown James Mpinganjira but people opted to stick to Zikhale Ng’oma.

Ng’oma, well known as Nyama Zikuluzikulu is expected to win as MCP First Vice President after all the regions endorsed him.
