Nyasa Express, a Malawian charter airline, has issued a statement regarding one of its aircraft, a Cessna 210, which has crashed into Lake Malawi.

The aircraft had three people onboard: a female passenger who has been located and taken to the hospital. Another passenger and a pilot are still missing.

The aircraft 7Q-PFU departed from Tongole Airfield in Nkhotakota Game Reserve today at 14:06 PM en route to Liwonde National Park.

It is further stated that the last satellite position it received placed the aircraft approximately 70 kilometers south of Nkhotakota, near the shoreline of Lake Malawi.

Meanwhile, the government spokesperson, Moses Kunkuyu, says that the aircraft has been sighted underwater, and rescue efforts are underway to pull it ashore.
