MCP Secretary General Defends President Chakwera Over Chilima’s Death Allegations
Lilongwe – Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General, Richard Chimwendo Banda, has firmly stated that President Lazarus Chakwera had no involvement in the death of former Vice President Saulos Chilima.
Speaking at a mega MCP rally in Lilongwe on Sunday, Chimwendo Banda emphasized that even God knows the truth about Chakwera’s innocence, adding that only God knows what truly happened.
The party Secretary General condemned those who are exploiting Chilima’s death for political gains, calling for divine retribution against them.
“Those of us close to you understand how deeply the death of former Vice President Saulos Chilima affected you. It was the first time I saw you cry and look utterly devastated,” he said.
He expressed his sorrow over the continued misuse of Chilima’s death for personal interests.
“While we are still grieving the loss of Chilima, there are individuals who mock his death for their own benefit. Some even laugh about it in Parliament, and there are recordings to prove it. This deeply pains us,” Chimwendo Banda added.
During the rally some notable individuals including;; the former former president Arthur Peter Mutharika’s advisor, Dr Hetherwick Mtaba, musician Skeffa Chimito and the Democratic Progressive Party’s fired Secretary General, Greldezer Jeffrey joined the MCP.
