Workers Protests Adani Group Kenya’s Airport Takeover

Hundreds of workers at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) protested against the Kenyan government’s decision to lease the airport to India’s Adani Group for 30 years.

The protesters, including union members and workers, fear job losses, potential security risks, and the impact on Kenya’s sovereignty.

According to the recent British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reports, the strike caused flight delays and cancellations, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.

“Union leaders have since agreed to return to work after receiving assurances that the deal would not be finalized without their approval,” reads the BBC report.

The Kenyan government argues that the airport needs private investment to upgrade its facilities, which are currently operating beyond capacity.
