Indigenous Timber Millers Mourn Loss of Founding Member, Othaniel Hara
The Reformed Timber Millers Union (RTMU) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Othaniel Hara, a founding member and former president.
Hara played a crucial role in resolving some of the conflicts in the Chikangawa Forest, showcasing exceptional leadership skills.
RTMU President Alfred Adams described Hara as a “flamboyant patriotic Malawian” whose contributions to the union’s growth will be deeply missed. “Othaniel was our pillar of strength, a guiding light… He’s left a void that’s difficult to fill.”
Fellow founder Paul Nthambazale delivered an emotional eulogy at Baula, highlighting Hara’s achievements as a unionist.
“A friend and true patriot, he provided solutions when others abandoned us,” said Nthambazale.
Hara’s legacy extends beyond the RTMU, as he made significant impacts in sports, education, entrepreneurship, and religious activities. His passing leaves a lasting void in the lives of those who knew him.
