Kabambe Sweeps UTM Presidential Race in Landslide Victory

In a resounding show of support, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe has emerged victorious in the UTM national convention, securing a landslide win in the party’s presidential race on Sunday night.

The former Reserve Bank of Malawi governor garnered an impressive 636 votes, leaving his competitors – Newton Kambala, Patricia Kaliyati, and Matthews Mtumbuka – far behind with a cumulative total of just 69 votes.

“This decisive win is a significant milestone for UTM, marking a new era as we rebound from the loss of our founding president, Saulos Klauz Chilima,” said Kabambe while promising to work with everyone.

Kabambe’s economic expertise, honed during his tenure as Reserve Bank governor, seems to be a major factor in his appeal to delegates. With his impressive track record, promises to lead UTM to victory in the 2025 general elections, focusing on economic growth and financial stability.

In his emotional acceptance speech, Kabambe expressed shock and gratitude, acknowledging the challenges the party had faced while reaffirming his commitment to lead UTM to success.

His victory is a testament to his strong leadership and vision for Malawi’s future as he takes the reins, faces the daunting task of uniting the party and preparing for the 2025 elections.

With his technocratic background and experience in economic policy, he is well-positioned to drive UTM’s agenda forward.

Will he be able to translate his economic expertise into electoral success? Only time will tell, but for now, Kabambe’s landslide victory is a significant step forward for UTM.
