Raiply Makes Headway in Reforestation Efforts Amidst Challenges

Raiply Malawi Limited has achieved significant progress in its reforestation efforts, planting 1251.3 hectares of pine and eucalyptus trees in their concession area in Chikangawa Forest.

The company aims to plant an additional 1200 hectares this year, contributing to the preservation of Malawi’s forests.

As part of its community engagement initiatives, Raiply Malawi Limited will begin donating seedlings to schools, chiefs, and media practitioners next week with the goal to establish community forests covering a cumulative 50 hectares.

However, the company has faced a setback with the uprooting of 12 hectares of newly planted trees, suspected to be the work of thieves.

According to Dalitso Chimwala, Raiply Limited’s Public Relations Officer, “We believe these individuals are villagers wanting to establish their own woodlots, possibly due to delays in our seedling distribution.”

Despite this challenge, Chimwala acknowledges the underlying need for alternative seedling distribution mechanisms.

During his recent visit to Chikangawa, His Excellency, Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, said Raiply Malawi Limited is helping the country realize Vision Malawi 2063 Agenda in a practical way.

“The company is a leading manufacturer of quality Medium Density Fibre (MDF) boards in Central and South Africa. They are helping Malawi realize Vision Malawi 2063 in a practical way,” said Chakwera.

Meanwhile, the company is overwhelmed with requests for free seedlings, highlighting the demand for reforestation efforts and the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation.
