Vice President Dr. Michael Usi Hails Progress on High Court Commercial Division Building

Despite his busy schedule, Vice President Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi had time to preside over the progress made in completing the High Court of Malawi Commercial Division building in Blantyre.
This development comes three weeks after the Vice President’s intervention, where he expressed concerns over delays in opening the state-of-the-art facility.
On Tuesday, Dr. Usi met with Judge in Charge of the High Court Commercial Division, Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale, in Lilongwe to track progress. During their meeting, Justice Kachale reported that contractors have been re-engaged to finalize the remaining works, and the government has committed to paying them.

Additionally, Deputy Director of Budget, Ms. Priscilla Fatchi, confirmed that the Electrical Engineer for the building will receive payment this week, enabling them to commence the crucial wiring work.
This progress is a significant step towards completing the project, which was initially reported to be 98% complete, with only electrical installation remaining.
Dr. Usi’s intervention and follow-up demonstrate government commitment to ensuring the timely completion of critical infrastructure projects and efforts aimed to promote economic growth, improve the delivery of justice, and enhance the overall quality of life for Malawians.
