Gotani Hara Guarantees Chakwera’s Massive Backing in Northern Region
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) 1st Deputy President, Catherine Gotani Hara, has assured President Lazarus Chakwera of overwhelming support in the northern region during this year’s general election, slated for September 16th.
Hara who is also the Speaker of the National Assembly made the assurance on Sunday as President Chakwera arrived in the northern region for a series of official engagements.
Hara emphasized that the large crowd that turned out to welcome Chakwera is a testament to the party’s growth in the region, debunking social media claims that MCP is weak in the North.
“The party is gaining strength in the North, as evident from the increasing number of individuals seeking to run on MCP tickets in parliamentary and local council elections,” Hara noted.
