New Dedza One-Stop Border Post Beats Ordinary Expectations
The construction of the modern, Dedza One-Stop Boarder post creates a milestone highlighting government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development and enhancement of trade, in alignment with Malawi Vision 2063.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, government through the Ministry of Finance expresses excitement to share the current status of the New Dedza One-Stop Border Post!
The Statement states that, this state-of-the-art infrastructure brings together all the departments stationed at the border under one roof, ensuring effective service delivery approximately 100 kilometres south of Malawi’s Capital, Lilongwe while sharing the north-eastern boundary with Mozambique’s Calomue Border Post in the Tete Province.
“While awaiting its official opening, the border post is already serving cross-border traders and migrants with the help of various government departments, including the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), Immigration, Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS), and Ministry of Agriculture,” reads the statementinpart.
The statement further outlined that some government departments are still in the process of equipping the facility with more resources, both in terms of equipment and human resources.
“Once fully furnished and staffed, the new Dedza One-Stop Border Post will be officially commissioned, to fully serve its purpose of facilitating trade across the region,” it adds.
The improved infrastructure will enable the border post to significantly reduce clearance timeframes, allowing cross-border traders and travellers to save valuable time.
