Shaping Our Future Foundation Coax 40 Needy Girls To School
About 40 deserving needy girls from rural areas in the country have a chance to continue with their studies at Maranatha Private Academy through a full bursary program the school has offered to the first lady’s Shaping Our Future Foundation.
The Director for Maranatha Academy, Ernest Kaonga says, he made the offer at a courtesy call of Madam Monica Chakwera, who is also the board chairperson for the Shaping Our Future foundation.
“The scholarship which starts this September amounts to K240 million and we are also offering to allow through the foundation students who will be given a subsidised rate” said Kaonga.
Principal Communications Officer for the First Lady, Priscilla Chimphinda says, the first lady was delighted with the gesture which will assist more girls return to school.
“The First Lady is very excited with continued support towards the Shaping Our Future Foundation initiatives which will go a lông way in nurturing the girl child to become desirable citizens,” Chimphinda said.
Recently, the First lady Monica Chakwera, was in Lilongwe City South West constituency where she donated 150 desks and other school materials from UN AIDS through her same Shaping Our Future Foundation.
During the visit all the 649 students at the school also received sanitary pads, school bags and stationery.
