MCP Withdraws Supreme Court Appeal, Paves Way for Convention
In a surprising turn of events, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has withdrawn its appeal to the Supreme Court, allowing the party’s convention to proceed as scheduled. This decision was confirmed by MCP lawyer Wapona Kita.
According to Kita, the party decided to withdraw the appeal after assessing the costs incurred for the elective conference.
Meanwhile, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, a contender for the 1st Deputy President position, announced on his Facebook page that his name has been added to the list of candidates.
Mumba reassured his supporters that he will contest and win the race, regardless of the circumstances.
The convention is expected to proceed as planned, marking a significant development in the MCP’s internal elections.
