Homeland Security Minister and Member of Parliament for Nkhata-bay South constituency, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma, has emphasized the importance of unity among traditional leaders in Nkhata-bay and Likoma districts to drive meaningful development.

Speaking at a meeting convened for over 20 traditional authorities from both districts in Nkhata-bay, Ng’oma stressed that traditional leaders play a vital role in fostering national development.

Ng’oma encouraged the chiefs to take the leading role in promoting voter registration, currently underway in Nkhata-bay and Likoma districts.

Zikhale also shared his efforts to raise awareness through whistle-stop tours, ensuring that information reaches every corner of his constituency.

The meeting proved fruitful, with discussions on various developmental projects and strategies to inform the public about voter registration.

Traditional Authority Mbwana praised the meeting as an “eye-opener” in different aspects of development, thanking Ng’oma for his initiative in raising awareness about voter registration.

Traditional Authority Mndolo echoed this sentiment, noting that Ng’oma’s whistle-stop tours have yielded positive results, with large numbers of people registering to vote.

In a gesture of support, Ng’oma pledged to donate a boat to alleviate mobility challenges for the people of Usiska, a move aligned with his commitment to development, as previously demonstrated through his efforts to construct bridges in Mazembe and Mkuluzi, made possible by the increased Community Development Fund (CDF) of K100,000,000.

By collaborating with traditional leaders, Ng’oma aims to bring about tangible progress in Nkhata-bay and Likoma districts.
