PRESIDENT CHAKWERA RECEIVES CREDENTIALS FROM 7 NEW ENVOYS

President Lazarus Chakwera has officially received letters of credence from seven non-residential diplomats at the State House in Lilongwe.

The envoys, representing Jamaica, Sweden, Rwanda, Algeria, Georgia, and Chad, expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Malawi.

Jamaican Envoy Joan Elaine emphasized her country’s desire to enhance existing ties, while Swedish Ambassador-Designate Per Lingärde reaffirmed his country’s support for Malawi.

Lingärde highlighted Sweden’s current efforts to facilitate the transportation of relief maize from Ukraine to Malawi, aimed at alleviating hunger in the country.

The other diplomats who presented their credentials include:

  • Emmanuel Bugingo: High Commissioner Designate of the Republic of Rwanda
  • Fahad Rashid Saqr Al Marekhi: High Commissioner-Designate from Jamaica
  • Rida Nebaïs: Ambassador-Designate of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
  • Roland Beridze: Ambassador-Designate of Georgia
  • Sagour Youssouf Mahamat Itno: Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Chad

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo welcomed the new envoys, stating that Malawi will greatly benefit from these diplomatic relationships.
