Government Cracks Down on NT Plastics for Defying Labour Laws
The Minister of Labour, Vitumbiko Mumba, has ordered the immediate closure of NT Plastics Manufacturing Limited in Lilongwe for refusing to address its labour issues.
The company’s Managing Director, Zhouh Youn Fei, has also been arrested for defying government orders to halt operations.
According to Minister Mumba, NT Plastics continued to operate despite a shutdown order, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the rule of law and the government’s authority.
“By doing this, they are trying to discard the rule of law and undermine the government. They will face the law to the fullest,” Mumba emphasized.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring that companies comply with labor laws. “We will do whatever we can to make sure that workers’ rights are respected,” Minister Mumba stated.
NT Plastics Manufacturing Limited is a company that produces custom-designed plastic packaging solutions.
The closure of the company’s operations in Lilongwe is a significant step towards enforcing labour laws and protecting workers’ rights in Malawi.
