Parliament passes K8.76 Trillion National Budget for 2025/2026

The Malawi Parliament has passed National Budget, totaling K8.76 trillion. This approval follows a thorough review of the proposed budget estimates for various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The approved budget represents an increase from the initial proposal. Earlier reports indicated a projected expenditure of K8.05 trillion for the 2025/2026 financial year, equivalent to 31.1 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The allocated funds will cover various sectors, with recurrent expenditures estimated at K6.04 trillion, representing 23.3 percent of GDP and 75 percent of the total budget.
A significant portion of the budget will be dedicated to development projects aimed at fostering economic growth and improving living standards.
