President Chakwera Appreciate Zero Carbon Moto-bikes

On Thursday, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, hosted a group of young engineers who were invited to Kamuzu Palace to show the President samples of electric motorcycles they are building locally with the support of foreign investors.

When the President learnt that the motorcycles are made in Malawi and produce zero carbon emissions, he insisted on taking one for a test ride around the State House grounds.

The President thanked the makers of the bikes for taking his message of transitioning Malawi from a mindset of consumption to one of production seriously and contributing to the Malawi 2063 vision of a self-reliant, industrialised, middle-income nation.

He encouraged the company to develop a strategy for scaling up production that can benefit from Government’s business-friendly policies.
