M1 ROAD REHABILITATION WORKS ON THE CARDS

The European Investment Bank – EIB has nodded to the government of Malawi’s request to fund rehabilitation works of the M1 road from Kamuzu International Airport junction in Lilongwe to Chiweta in Rumphi.

The EIB will provide 117 million Euros (about 126 billion kwacha) and President Lazarus Chakwera is set to launch the project on 5th July 2022.

Thé M1 Road which starts from Kåronga- Nsanje drives the country’s economy from transportation of agriculture products to transportation of fuels from Dar es Lam in Tanzania.

Public Relations Officer for Minister of Transport and Public Works, Kelvin Sato has confirmed.

Four different contractors will work on the road in phases.
