His Exellency the state President, Dr Lazarus Macarthy Chakwera has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies that are managing infrastructure projects to upload information of their projects by 31st August this year on the IPPI portal.
Chakwera made the directive on Monday, when he hosted a multi-stakeholder member delegation from the Construction Sector Transparency Initiative (CoST) to get feedback on the progress of the Information Platform for Public Infrastructure (IPPI Malawi).
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony of the M1 Road Rehabilitation at Mtiti in Dowa the Malawi leader stressed that posting such relevant information on the portal allows all interested partners to follow-up on the progress of important development works taking place in the country.
“The portal allows for the publication of public infrastructure projects and contract information from the tender level to completion of the project and in turn increases citizen engagement in the public construction sector and promotes transparency and accountability of public resources,” Chakwera said.
He then commended CoST for the ongoing work, and asked the team to always verify that the information uploaded on the portal represents the actual work in the field saying, “digitilisation is critical to the achievement of our dream as a nation and we should all work towards that goal.”
During the meeting, members of CoST Malawi displayed how the public can access the portal on the website, https://ippi.mw which is open to the general public and all stakeholders to use in order to follow the developments that are taking place in the country.
