Ekwaiweni Tafika Youth Organisation Intensifies Education And Environmental Projects.
As envisioned in their work plan in order to economically empower communities and mitigate the devastating effects of climate change, a Mzimba based Ekwaiweni Tafika Youth Organisation and Tafika Sports Academy have embarked on long term income generating and environmental conservation activities.
With support from various partners and proceeds from the locally generated financial activities, the organization is planting pine trees and 6 Acres of land have already been planted with a projection of 18 Acres expected to be planted by the end of this year.
In an interview, the Executive Director for Tafika Ekwaiweni Youth Organization, Shupo Kumwenda said apart from the tree planting program, efforts to construct a 40-bed hostel for non-residential Livingstonia University students are now at an advanced stage.
“We have already planted 6 Acres of pine trees which will help raising funds to support vulnerable community members who will likely establish various small scale businesses in order to improve and sustain their livelihoods.
“Construction of a hostel which is expected to accommodate 40 university students has also started and we are very thankful to all our partners for supporting us,” Kumwenda said.
