Government has promised to provide maximum security to the refugees and asylum seekers as they will be voluntarily relocating back to the dzaleka refugee camp.

The minister of Homeland Security Jean Sendeza said this on Wednesday, 24 August 2022, during the press briefing which the ministry conduct in Lilongwe.

In her speech the minister said, “the ministry will work hand in hand with the police to apprehend and prosecute anybody who would want to take the law in their hands by harassing or meddling with the refugees and asylum seekers before, during and after the return to the refugees camp,”

Sendeza also promised to protect the rights of the refugees and asylum seekers from any kind of violation which include harassment or destroying their properties.

Responding to whether government will be able to take care of all the refugees in the camp, sendeza said “government is much aware of the problems that happens at the camp and, we are working hand in hand with several organisation to make sure that the welfare of the refugees should be protected”
