Youthful Nomads Wreck Havoc On Kamuzu Barracks

Commercial capital city giants, Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have booked another derby in the FDH Bank Cup semifinal after both teams progressed saw off Chitipa United and Kamuzu Barracks respectively on Saturday.

The People’s Team moved one step further than last year having booked the semifinal ticket after beating Chitipa United 2-0 at Rumphi Stadium.

Bullets were 1-0 up at halftime through their versatile Nigerian import, Babatunde Adepoju following his 32nd minute strike.

Anthony Mfune doubled the lead in the 61st minutes to ensure a comfortable 2-0 victory over the resilient Northern Region Football Association League outfit.

The victory for Nyasa Big Bullets confirmed the third derby with their bitter arch rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers this season who demolished the in form captal city military outfit, Kamuzu Barracks 4-1.

The Lalli Lubani road outfit registered their first goal in the 41st minute through Vincent Nyangulu who headed home a Vitumbiko Kumwenda’s cross just few minutes after Stanley Sanudi had missed from the spot.

The nomads extended the lead to 2-0 midway in the second half through another header from their demunitive midfield maestro, Francis Nkonda before Vitumbiko Kumwenda punished the soldiers again for 3-0.

Kamuzu Barracks reduced the arrears with 10 minutes to go courtesy of Zeliat Nkhoma from the spot kick but a moment later substitute Isaac Kaliati nailed it with the last goal of the day for the unstoppable nomads to register their biggest win in the FDH Cup this season.

During postmatch interviews Kamuzu Barracks coach, Charles Kamanga conceded that Wanderers were a far much better side hence winning the game.

“They really prepared for us, all our efforts were thwarted but it was a nice game that has taught us several things,” said Kamanga.

Wanderers Technical Director, Eddington Ng’onamo praised the youthful side featured on the Super Saturday describing them as sensational.

“We featured our very youthful boys in the age bracket between 20-26 years who have now become sensetional, adapting quickly to our systems and style of play, we can beat Bullets in the semifinals,” concluded Ng’onamo.
