Clubs Starved of Local Music – Black Jak
Blantyre, Malawi: Enterprising Disc Jokie, Black Jak says the local music promotion Bill board, In-house Media is set to launch “Malawi Night” countrywide club tour aimed at promoting the culture of playing local content in clubs and gatherings.
The first “Malawi Night” dubbed summer edition will take place on 24 September at the popular entertainment joint, Chez Ntemba in Blantyre.
In-house Media founder and Director, Black Jak real, name Fatsani Kalonda said foreign music has for a long time taken over Malawi music industry hence the need to bring back local content.
“It’s sad that people prefer foreign to local music, we want to encourage DJs to start playing Malawian music and embracing Malawian culture. We also want to create a space where people can appreciate local food and drinks,” said the seemingly disappointed Black Jak.
He also revealed that the tour will parade four popular DJs touring clubs in the country where local music will be played for four hours.
“It’s not easy to just turn things around but we are determined to start with four hours and see what and where need to be improved,” he added.
He also said on the promotion galore will be some upcoming artists who have already shown the potential to grow big in the showbiz world.
Locally brewed beer such as, Kachasu among other local drinks and other food items will be available on sale at all venues..
