Equador Opens 2022 FIFA World Cup Campaign In Style

Hosts Qatar got stuck on their blocks and froze completely as they screeched to a 0-2 defeat to Ecuador in an opening 2022 FIFA World Cup match.

Ecuador played well while Qatar were quite awful and as hosts they have put themselves in a very difficult situation with a mountain to climb if they are to record positive memories of this World Cup.

At half time, Qatar were already trailing 0-2 to Ecuador with Enner Valencia scoring both goals for his Ecuadorian side.

The boys from Quito showed quality and focus hence dominated both in play and scoring chances in the second half but could not provide changes to the score tally.

Qatar could not build up their attacking strategy well only to find a sing scoring opportunity that came but in the last minute of the added time.

Meanwhile, Qatar have become the first home team to lose an opening FIFA World Cup match and they have a lot of work to do if they are to salvage something positive from their first ever hosting of the greatest football festival.
