MP Chirwa meets constituents
The Parliamentarian for Mzimba Luwerezi, Honourable Sam Chirwa over the weekend met his constituents to seek their views on what developmental projects for the area should be prioritized in the current sitting of Parliament.
Chirwa met various leaders at all levels of socioeconomic development with the aim of ensuring that needs of the people are addressed through various developmental funds.
Speaking in an interview on Saturday at Majakwenda Village after meeting with some of the constituents, the Parliamentarian sympathized with them on the current economic woes currently troubling almost sectors of the economy but urged them to remain focused on agriculture.
He said it is for this reason that he has ensured that all major roads in the Constituency have been upgraded to ensure smooth implementation of this year’s Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP)
“I have always been so close to my constituents because I believe in taking to Parliament the real issues that are affecting people, whatever little I have we share, I know things are hard in today’s world hence my emphasis on Agriculture so that people shouldn’t be sleeping with empty stomachs,” Chirwa said.
The legislator who is popularly known as Chimkwevu among the youths in the area surprised the constituents as he provided them with dresses especially for women, wrappers (Chitenje), shoes, salt and sugar while the youths got T-shirts and caps.
Chairperson for Mabilabo Social Support committee , Keeper Gumbo commended Chirwa for the gesture especially his continued efforts to meet people at all levels of socioeconomic development.
“We are always appreciate efforts of our parliamentarian, these meetings are very rare in other constituencies but him always make sure that he meets us before going to Parliament,” said Gumbo.
