Parliamentarian motivates teachers for improved examinations pass rate

Mzimba Luwerezi Parliamentarian, Sam Chirwa, has fulfilled some of his recent promises he made aimed at motivating learners, teachers and other players in the education sector aimed at improving examination results in the constituency.

The initiative comes following an improved national examination results in this year’s primary and junior certificate examinations respectively unlike the previous years where results have had been dissatisfactory.

Speaking at a meeting held at Kankholikoli Community Day Secondary school organized by the Mabilabo Task force drawing a total of 151 education officials from 37 public schools in the area, Chirwa asked for unity of purpose among various stakeholders to join hands in uplifting the education standards in the area.

“I promised to buy a cow and slaughter it right here in order to celebrate with you our beloved teachers on condition that if the examination results improve, I am glad you have achieved what we agreed and I am very sure that it will be happening now and again in this constituency,” said the legislator.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentarian has advised development committees to collect the remaining building materials such as cement and iron sheets which are ready meant for the completion of construction of teachers houses at Tanagatanga, Jenda and Mphunju schools.

In an interview with the Head Teacher for Kavikole primary school, Trouble Muyaba, described the meeting as fruitful having put in place a common strategic work plan aimed at improving the quality of education including achieving good results.

Muyaba also hailed the huge role being played by the Parliamentarian whom he said is spearheading the construction of houses for teachers which he said the development is improving the welfare of teachers posted in rural schools.

“We are very grateful for the meeting which has introduced some components that will enable community members themselves to assist towards the teaching and learning, the Parliamentarian is also making sure that the teacher houses projects he initiated are quickly completed and that is another motivating factor for many of us,” said Muyaba.
