Raiply Takes Tree Planting Beyond Chikangawa Forest

The country’s leading wood milling company, Raiply Malawi Limited says it will this year plant trees in Zomba, Mulanje and Blantyre apart from the usual Chikangawa Forest coincidentally in tandem with the theme for this year’s national Volleyball Championship “Plant Conserve and Protect Forests”

The extension to other districts in this year’s tree planting exercise comes as one way of increasing efforts to mitigating issues to do with global warming emanating from environmental degradation.

Speaking in Mzuzu at a press briefing announcing the return of the 13th edition of Raiply National Volleyball Championship which start tomorrow Friday, 11th November 2022 the company’s Public Relations Officer, Dalitso Chimwala said Malawi needs to protect the ecosystems supporting life.

The 13th edition is here

“We find a great need to protect the country’s ecosystem hence this year we are also. planting trees in Zomba, Mulanje and Chigumula in Blantyre, not only pine and Bluegum trees but even those species which can assist in mitigating the effects of global warming resulting from careless management of environmental resources,” Chimwala said.

Chimwala also expressed shock with the current rate at which trees are being wantonly cut down saying if our forefathers were also careless like that then desertification would have long ago disrupted some socioeconomic activities such as; agricultural and power generation

The Volleyball Association of Malawi’s general secretary, Daniel Mwakasoko held the good working relationship his association has with Raiply Malawi Limited which he said has contributed to the company’s sponsoring volleyball for the past thirteen years.

No team should fail to participate

“Raiply has been with us bankrolling the national tournament for the past thirteen (13) years, this time around the company has again committed to be with us starting from this Friday and we have new teams in this year’s tournament like Mzuzu Academy and other two namely DMI and Changalume Barracks from the Southern Region Volleyball League,” Mwakasoko said.

Commenting on the failure by some teams from the Southern Region to take part in this year’s championship, Mwakasoko and Chimwala conquered that discussions are still going to find the best possible way on how teams travelling long distances can be assisted.

The northern region Sports and Recreation Officer at the Malawi National Sports Council, Gracian Mkandawire thanked Raiply Malawi Limited and the Volleyball Association of Malawi for their contribution towards the fulfillment of the 7th enabler of the Malawi Vision 2063 which dwell on environmental sustainability being achieved through sports.
