As the country continues to struggle in the provision of affordable and sustainable energy sources leading to the depletion of natural resources, 265 Energy Limited has introduced on the market low priced Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cookers.

These 3-kilogram LPG cylinders which have a year long warranty will be going at lower price than what is currently on the market providing Malawians with an opportunity to adopt a sustainable fuel efficiency technology that allows a significant reduce over dependency on forests most of which have lost capacity and ability to sustain livelihoods.

In a statement, 265 Energy Limited’s Managing Director Mfundo Mvundula, disclosed that they ordered the product through the Cleaner Cooking Grant from UK-AID and USAID and with the assistance of Standard Bank’s China Trade Agreement.

“Most Malawians are reluctant to make the switch from charcoal or the perceived expensive and unreliable electricity as most gas solutions are priced on the higher side,” reads part of the statement.

The statement further expressed hope that the low priced gas cookers which have been approved by both, Afrox Malawi and the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) will be able to help people (users) have access to an energy alternatives while also conserving the environment.

Adding to the press release, 265 Energy’s sales representative, Phillip White said the company will soon be opening outlets in districts supplementing capacity to the major selling points in major cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe.

Recently, the parliamentary natural resources committee faulted the Finance Ministry for failing to prioritize sustainable energy interventions in the national budget, a situation in which it describes as a setback in natural resources management.

Chairperson for the Committee Werani Chilenga said conservation of natural resources is central to the progress of the agricultural and energy sector.
