The contractor who worked in the construction of Kandezu Police Unit and road corvettes in Mzimba-Luwerezi constituency has expressed gratitude with the overwhelming community participation in the implementation of the projects.

This comes following the timely completion of all the projects despite long distances to access building materials and continued rising costs of construction materials.

Speaking to Malawi Daily Telegraph, the Managing Director for H.Gwaza Construction Company, Hendrich Gwaza attributed good leadership on the part of the Parliamentarian for the area, Sam Chirwa and other community development structures.

Honourable Chirwa sacrificed from his pocket for the community

“The member of Parliament for the area, Honourable Sam Chirwa and other community structure like the Area Development Committee (ADC) and Village Development Committees (VDC) have been instrumental in supporting every effort towards implementation of the public development projects,” Gwaza said.

The contractor also singled out the Parliamentarian for using personal financial and other resources to meet the required 25 percent in Community development Funded (CDF) projects wherever the community failed.

In a telephone interview the Mzimba Luwerezi Parliamentarian, Sam Chirwa said people of his constituency deserve better hence his unmeasurable support towards development projects.

“We must make progress in as far as developing our area is concerned, we are pumping more resources towards development projects which will ease some of the challenges we have been facing before,” Chirwa said.

Inkosi Mabilabo graced the occasion

Among other top officials presiding over the handover ceremony of the police unit were Chief Mabilabo, Mzimba District Police officers and government officials from M’mbelwa District Council.
