In an effort to alleviate some challenges encountered by learners in public universities and national secondary schools, Raiply Malawi Limited has announced the introduction of a K16.4 million scholarship scheme targeting secondary and tertiary students.
The wood industry realizes that it has a huge influence in the areas of forestry, manufacturing, sports and education as such taking a step further into a new area which appears to have slowed down education attainment mostly among those from low level income
Announcing the development, Raiply Malawi Limited’s Public Relations Officer, Dalitso Chimwala said the scholarship will benefit students who made it to national secondary schools and public universities which means the criteria is academic excellence.
“It is a way of encouraging and rewarding hard work and top class performance while at the same time giving opportunities to the less privileged to make it in life,” Chimwala said.
Chimwala further stressed that the K16.4 million set aside will be covering tuition fees for only public universities and national secondary school learners starting from from January 2023.
“Some students at Malawi University of Science and Technology, University of Malawi, Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences and Mzuzu University will have no fees worries.
“Among them is a student studying for the unique Bachelor of Science – Petroleum and Other Gases and a young lady who enrolled for Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Governance,” he said.
However, for starters, the beneficiaries have been drawn from Mtangatanga CDSS and Mtangatanga Primary School.
Raiply is therefore encouraging learners in primary, secondary and universities to continue applying themselves hard on their studies and not take economic challenges as an excuse for not performing well.
The newly introduced scholarship scheme is aimed at promoting human capital development for the transformation of lives among individuals, families and communities at large.
